Everything We Love About Fenty Beauty

By now you’ve probably read one hundred grillion reviews on Rihanna’s new makeup line, Fenty Beauty. We know everyone is talking about it, but since Rih Rih is the GOAT, we had to try it ourselves.

While we didn’t have the cash-mons to grab the whole line, we were able to try the Pro Filt’r Foundation, the Full Bodied Foundation Brush and the Match Stix Trio, made up of a concealer, a contour and a highlight.

Here are some things we loved:

  • The packaging is beautiful and very clearly high quality. You don’t feel like you’re getting something that might accidentally break in your hand (ahem KKW). The Match Stix Trio is even magnetized so the three products stay together when you’re not using them. Cute.

  • There’s a range of foundation colors. Rihanna specifically set out with the intention of creating a makeup line for a wide variety of skin tones, and she did just that. There are 40 different shades of foundation to choose from, giving more folks the chance to find their match. We respect any line that makes inclusivity a priority.

  • The foundation texture is lightweight, matte and velvety, without looking flat or dry.

  • The foundation brush is super dense but still soft, and helps give that airbrushed look.

  • The concealer has great coverage. One thing Hannah and Kat struggle with on a daily is dark under eye circles, and sadly, many concealers just don’t cut it. The Fenty concealer goes on soft and matte, it’s lightweight, and most importantly, it actually makes us look alive again.

  • The highlighters are super pigmented (if you’re into that sort of thing!) Not every highlight shade looks great on every skin tone, and we have to say there are a lot of warm colors in this line that aren’t necessarily flattering on every skin tone. That said, the products are dense and sparkly so a little bit goes a long way, and that’s not a bad thing. Tip: Aptly named Trophy Wife is gold and sparkly af, so it’s tempted to go all out. Less might be more with this one...all we’ll say is, we saw some people looking silly in the store

  • The products stayed on for 12 hours! Through a wedding! That’s rare.

  • The price-point, though not a steal, is on par with other professional-level cosmetics lines, not wildly expensive, which we appreciated. (Foundation: $34, Match Stix Trio: $54, Foundation brush: $34, etc)

  • It’s sold in Sephora! You’re not competing with millions of people to order online before the products sell out. You can literally go to the mall, buy some, and try it out. If you don’t like it or get the wrong shade, Sephora will take it back. With people fighting in these streets for Kylie Lip Kits, accessibility has become much more appealing.

  • The products are cruelty free!

It may not have blown us away so much that it’s our new go-to or anything, but Fenty Beauty definitely didn’t disappoint. If you want to support Rihanna, her commitment to diversity, her cruelty-free brand, and have cute-ass products in your makeup case that WORK (omg, fighting so hard not to make a stupid joke rn)...by all means pick some up.
